iPad Pro = Macbook Pro 13″ (speed)! wow!

Es ist nun raus, die Benchmarks von MTN zeigen, dass die neuen iPad Pros faktisch mit dem MBP 13″ gleich ziehen. Dabei handelt es sich ja um lüfterlos und mit weniger Strom laufende Mobilprozessoren, die mal eben das kleinere der Pro-Modelle einholen. Ja, Apple ist kein Leistungsmeister bei den 13″, denn es gibt kein 4-Kern Modell bei den 13″-Books. Aber das bedeutet – das iPad Pro mit 10.5 oder 12,9″ ist inzwischen nicht nur so schnell wie das kleine Pro sondern könnte die kleine Serie beschleunigen, man bräuchte im MB 12″ keine Intel M Prozessoren mehr, die zwar keine Lüfter brauchen aber mehr Strom und langsamer sind sie auch. Das Air wird vermutlich nicht mehr lange im Programm bleiben. Aber – ein MBP-schnelles neues Macbook mit und ohne Pro mit ARM Prozessor A10X würde eine schnellere Grafik haben und etwa die Leistung des MBP13″ mit Intel i7. Der nächste Meilenstein ist damit das 15″ 4-Kern Macbook Pro.

Well – it’s now for sure – iPad Pros from 2017 are as fast as a Macbook 13″ 2core, which means – a fanless low power processor is faster than the smaller of the Pro series – and the graphics power has already exceeded the MBP13″ platform, which means – the A10X ARM processor can replace all smaller Macbooks (12″ and Air) and without any fan, at lower power – as you can see in the benchmarks above.

so – the next thing is to catch up with the 15″ models with 4core processors, which need more power of course and also got fans inside. this means – musicians could love this ARM processor since it does a lot of fast work for synths of any kind no less than a 13″MBP – except it has to be an iOS app or „plugin“ – which is about 1 year old. iOS will grow with it’s file access app and better interaction between apps but it is still not as versatile as macOS – since all apps are sandboxed and so they are insulated from each other. well – read more about iOS 11 & High Sierra ..
